The Prague that stands proud today, has gone through tumultuous events in its history. It has a fascinating and rich past, which have traces on the city even today.

The latter part of the 19th century wrought many significant changes in the Czech Republic. Some of these changes very opposite of the conservative values of the society. However, these very values brought about tremendous positive changes in sectors of culture, science and industry.

The modernisation and democracy of the Czech society was brought forth within the frameworks of the Habsburg monarchy.

The National Museum in Prague is running a Monarchy Exhibition from 1st Jan to 9th June 2013. The exhibition will feature paintings, photographs, inventions, replica models and original artifacts to shed light on the monarchy in Prague. The exhibition is open to adults and children.
