Prague Folklore Days 2013

Every summer at the end of July, Prague hosts one the largest cultural festivals in Europe, Prague Folklore Days. Amateur folklore dance and choir ensembles of all proficiency levels partake in this festival to educate and promote people about the traditional culture from their homelands.

Performers in historic costumes, marching bands and carnival groups give open-air performances throughout Prague on historic squares, including Wenceslas Square, Republic Square and Old Town. The climax to the three days of activities is a colourful procession through the streets of Old Town.

Folklore ensembles who take part in this festival are not just from Czech Republic but from all over Europe. Groups from Latvia, Russia, and Croatia represent East and East-Central Europe while ensembles from Belgium, Italy and Spain also perform.

In 2013, the 7th“Prague Folklore Days” will be held from 25 July to 28 July 2013. The performances are free for everyone to enjoy.
