Prague has been voted the most gay-friendly city of central and Eastern Europe, which is reflected in Prague Pride, the biggest LGBT festival in the region. The city’s respectful, non-judgmental attitude towards homosexuality people has promoted positivity within the community.
However, that is not the case with other countries in farther east. Gays and lesbians here face persecution by the government and extremist groups because homosexuality here is viewed as a crime and not a sexual preference.

This year, Prague Pride will focus on building a bridge over the Eastern and Western Europe gap by supporting Eastern European homosexuals to attend this year’s Prague Pride virtually. People can choose people “live avatars” to represent them at the pride or simply join the festivities.

The Prague Pride festival will be taking place on Monday, Aug 11 until Sunday, Aug 17. There is also the place for a plethora of events including the ‘Prague Pride Parade’ on Aug 16 plus almost 100 different cultural and social events, parties, debates and much more.

People can watch movies, view exhibitions, join the weeklong village festival along the banks of the river and enjoy concerts by the legendary Pet Shop Boys. This is the time to rise up against homophobia and whole-heartedly accept homosexuality.
